My intentions by making this booth is to bring all my work and represent the nebulae clouds. The process started by measuring and cutting out the wood into sizers that fit and worked well together. Things we had to bare in mind was positioning of the windows and access into inside of the booth. This was important to include because i need to be able to get into the booth after it was glued and put together. The next step after doing this was the insides of wood material were painting black and
For my final outcome I wanted to make people feel the atmosphere of interstellar space and the nebulae clouds. I want to add features which represent this idea, so by creating this bottles glass wall I feel it would extend the atmosphere of space. The process was all a new learning curve, it was something I havant done before and I now feel confidant to achieve this again. I started by looking into a few artists, one called Charles Stagg. He creates beautiful glassed walls inside homes which shows stunning detail. His work has inspired me to focus on allowing light into my booth. I intend to place a strong wall light facing the bottled wall to enhance the refection of the glass. All the bottles are recycled from home and cut in half to create the same effect on both sides of the wall. Then placed into the celotex to hold in place. The over all effect from this will look stunning, introducing light into my installation. Materials used:- Silk Paints - Gutta (for out lining) - Silk fabic - Clean Water ![]() The first step in silk painting is to prepare the silk and softly outline the design. After doing this I then went over these lines with Gutta, which stops the paints from running. You can get all different colours within this product however I chose a silver. To show a higher level of space. The sliver I feel also stands out more, compare to a white. Applying Colour to SilkThere was a certain method to applying the coloured silk paints. I had to constantly be aware of how much water I was adding because if I added to much the colour would run together. I feel these experiments worked well because the colour seemed to stay onto the silk better then previous medias I have used. The gutta shows the outline of the clouds in a more detailed way and overall will use this technique within my final outcome. The only thing I would improve on is making the gutta thicker and doing two coats of the paint to make the colour appear stronger.
![]() I started my paper mache by layering paper and wall paper paste onto a blown up ballon. I then sketched my designs in pencil after the glue had dried. After this I wanted the work to represent Nebulae clouds so using acrylic paint I created patterns which I feel achieves this idea. Shown in the images aside. I over all feel that these sculptures have been a huge success. I intended them to show vibrant and complementary colours which then created lines that show dancing and flowing movement. The colours are strong and bold, giving off an effective 3D tone. The work represents nebulae clouds well and will use these sculptures in my final piece. Display of my WorkTo display all my ideas I will create a booth made out of a solid material such as wood. I will also use celotex to place my glass bottles inside. The celotex will allow me to carve the right shape of the recycled wine bottles and will hold them in place. The design of the booth is a smaller width and a longer height creating an enclosed area. I will introduce 3D sculptures which will be made out of paper mache, representing Nebulae clouds. These will then be hung inside from the roof of the booth. After looking into the technique of silk painting, I want to build an image using this method and will be displayed inside a window of the booth. Medias and MaterialsFor my Final Major Project I wanted to base my work around materials i havant yet discovered to help me gain skills and knowledge. I intend to start this by looking into silk painting. A technique called serti, is a silk painting method where you use silk paints and gutta to show high levels of authentic structure and movement. Another effective method I want to include is bottle glass walls. I think they are visually appealing and is an admirable way to let light through. To support my ideas on nebulae clouds I will create a few sculptures out of a technique of paper mache. They will be finished with detailed painting that represent clouds movement. Concept and PurposeThere are so many features in space that show pure beauty. I chose to look further into Interstellar space and the nebulae clouds. These clouds are formed by gas and dust which displays outstanding glowing movement. For my final outcome I will create an imaginative installation that represents interstellar space. The purpose within my work is that people socially engage and interact with what I present to them. I intend to achieve this by allowing people to look inside a booth that is full of inspiration.
I feel it is important to involve your audience when coming to display, there are continuous amounts of social elements by adding this feature, it will enhance my ideas on the Nebulae Clouds. From my eye point I feel people don't know enough about space its self, so I want others to experience a magical environment that inspires people to look into. I want to achieve certain moods of delicacy, calm, dreamy and eerier. I would love for people to feel the atmosphere of interstellar space. |
